TEHRAN (IQNA) – After being appointed to prophethood, messengers of God are given various tasks and missions, one of which is fighting Taghuts (those who trespass the limits in committing sins and evil) and saving the oppressed.

Divine prophets

God told Moses (AS) to go to pharaoh: “Go to Pharaoh; he has become a rebel.” (Verse 24 of Surah Taha)

So prophets of God should stand up to all Taghuts and rebels. Fighting them is on top of the agenda of divine messengers. This struggle paves the way for spread of Tawheed (monotheism) because we cannot reach Allah until false gods are rejected. The phrase La Ilaha Illa Allah (There is no god but Allah), which is the monotheistic motto of Islam, begins with the rejection of all false gods and then introduces Allah.

Saving the Oppressed

Prophet Moses (AS) told pharaoh; “Free Bani Isra’il whom you have enslaved and stop torturing, persecuting and exploiting them.”

According to Verse 47 of Surah Taha, Moses (AS) was tasked by God to tell pharaoh: “… therefore send the children of Israel with us and do not torment them!”

So saving the oppressed from the domination of oppressors is among the responsibilities of divine prophets and they make all-out efforts to fulfil this responsibility.

Moses (AS), for example, liberated the Bani Isra’il from the tyranny of pharaoh.
